Christmas training schedule

As the Robinson Centre is closed for both weekends over the Christmas break, regular training classes will finish on the 18th of December and resume in the new year: 8th of January. Kiryoku wishes all our karateka a pleasant break and a happy new year.

NIKB OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS – 2011

Sensei Bell highlighted the imminent NIKB championship event is open to all club members holding a valid federation license. As Sensei will be attending the WIKF leaders course in London at the time, any students wanting to compete will need to submit their entry details ASAP.

Venue: Lisburn LeisurePlex
Date: Sat, 29-Oct-2011
Time: 09:00 to 16:00

All Kiryoku students are reminded that due to this event and Sensei Bell being away, there will be no regular club training that weekend!

MID-WEEK TRAINING ON HOLD

Student numbers for the Wednesday night club training have remained disappointingly low and it is no longer feasible for the club to continue paying to rent the hall. Sensei Bell has now put this training session on hold until further notice. It’s hoped that the Scout Hall will still be available for the short-term, if there is sufficient student interest, the mid-week training may be restarted. Any students interested in resuming this class should inform Sensei Bell ASAP.

MASTER TATSUO SUZUKI LEADERS COURSE

For all senior karateka and instructors, the WIKF leaders course is the most important course you can attend each year. These courses are only open to 2ND Dan and above and the aim is to unite our technique, safeguarding the authentic Wado as taught by our founder.

Venue: Lewis Sports & Leisure / Harris CTC College, London
Day 1: 29-Oct, 13:00 to 17:30
Day 2: 30-Oct, 10:00 to 14:30

Anyone wishing to grade at this event must contact eleni3@mac.com to pre-register for either Dan Grading, or the examiners examination.

MID-WEEK TRAINING TO BE REVIEWED

Due to declining numbers of students training on a Wednesday evening, Sensei Bell will be reviewing the feasibility of continuing this class. Although students continue to express an interest, current attendance levels do not cover the cost of the venue rental and so it may not be possible to sustain this training slot.
This is a 2hr session that covers basics and syllabus material, but also more advanced techniques such as knife and sword defence. It also represents an excellent opportunity ahead of a grading for a full mock session.
This class is open to all karateka and students are welcome to train the first, second or both hours – especially useful for the younger students when the 21:30 finish may be too late on a school night.

It’d be a shame to loose this training slot, so all students are urged to attend if possible over the coming weeks!

KYU GRADING SUCCESS AT N’ARDS

Big thank you to Bobby Hamilton and the other organisers for another great training course. Sensei Wicks certainly put everyone through their paces over the two days!

Congratulations to Kiryoku karateka on successfully grading as follows:

3rd Kyu (Brown)
Matthew B
David G

4th Kyu (Purple)
Conor B
Carl S

Commiserations to Arthur on missing the opportunity to take the 1ST Kyu grading due to injury. Sensei Bell congratulated everyone on their achievements and also highlighted that there is likely be another Kyu and Dan grading before the year end. Anyone wishing to try for their next belt is reminded that only students training syllabus on a regular basis will be permitted to grade.
