2013 WIKF World Cup

The 7th WIKF world cup championships will take place at the end of September in London. This 3 day competition event will see karateka from all over the world coming together to compete for multiple events including kata, kumite and tanto dori. There will also be limited places available for special training seminars with the WIKF World Chief Instructor, Jon Wicks 8th Dan preceeding the competition. This year will also herald the introduction of the Suzuki Championship Cup in honour of the late grandmaster, Sensei Tatsuo Suzuki.

As Sensei Bell will be attending this event to support our competing club members, there will be no regular training classes that weekend.

22nd North vs South

The first competition of the new year will take place at the start of February – the 22nd annual North Vs South Open Championship. As the name implies, this event is open to all karateka from north and south of the border, regardless of club affiliation or style.  Like previous years, there will be categorised junior and senior competitive events for Kata, Kumite and team Kumite.

As Sensei Bell will be attending, there will be no club training on that Saturday. Anyone wishing to take part, should let Sensei know ASAP for registration. Students not taking part are invited to come along as spectators and support this event.

NIKB OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS – 2011

Sensei Bell highlighted the imminent NIKB championship event is open to all club members holding a valid federation license. As Sensei will be attending the WIKF leaders course in London at the time, any students wanting to compete will need to submit their entry details ASAP.

NORTH VS SOUTH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

NIKW have announced the 20th Annual North Vs South Open Karate championship taking place next month in Belfast. Although this event will be conducted under WKF rules, Sensei Bell urges all applicable club members to take part or come along to show support for our competitors. This is a great opportunity to compete against UK and Irish clubs, and also different styles such as Wado-Kai and Shotokan.

This event is open to kids, cadets, juniors and seniors. All entries must be made through Sensei Bell ASAP as the closing date for entries is 15th January. Regular club training is not expected to take place that Saturday.

WIKF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2008

The 5th WIKF World Championships will take place in Braga, Portugal at the end of July. This is a major event in the Wado Ryu calendar and will be attended by more than 500 karateka representing 24 countries. Preceding the competition there will also be a three day special training course with Sensei Tatsuo Suzuki.

Full event details can be found on the Wado-Ryu Portugal web site. Sensei Bell will be attending, and club member Jessica Morrow will be competing. No regular training classes will be held that weekend.

WIKF ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONSHIP 2008

Invitiations to the 2008 All-Ireland championships have been issued to aflliated clubs and Kiryoku will be competing in Kumite and Kata sections with mix of junior and senior entrants. As a member if you would like to take part, please contact Sensei Bell ASAP as registration ends at the end of April. Event details:
